After years of working alongside internal IT teams, suppliers, and senior leaders, Zachary repeatedly saw the same pattern. Technology decisions were being driven by vendors rather than business needs. Systems were over-engineered, costs quietly escalated, and risk increased — particularly for charities, schools, and growing organisations without senior IT leadership in place.

In many organisations, IT had become business-critical, yet no one at the leadership level truly owned it. Decisions were made in isolation, a long-term strategy was absent, and IT became reactive rather than planned.
